“What Anna wants, Anna gets!” is what a co-worker said to me, before telling me about True Thai. The day before Anna and I were talking about mango with sticky rice from Sawatdee, but when Anna called to inquire she was told they did not have any mango! I settled on eating garbage hotel food, but Anna wanted her mango with sticky rice and through Zagat found True Thai.
Anna came back with a pretty good review so I felt I needed to give this place a try. As we entered we were greeted with an extremely friendly staff, which as you know is a plus point in my book. Since I was observing a vegetarian day, I looked at the menu online and knew I was going to try the Red Curry with mock dock and the mango with sticky rice of course!
This is where True Thai stood out. Their presentation was different then every other Thai restaurant I had been too. They serve the curry in this interesting pot/bowl which is difficult to describe. It was full and hard to put rice in, but that made me focus more on the curry itself. I completely enjoy the curry, as I threw in a little rice as I lowered the bowl. I am not the biggest fan of mock dock, but I try to avoid tofu; so I would like to go back and try the chicken next time.
Finally, it was time for our mango with sticky rice. By now you have heard enough about this from me, but guess what I love it and you will only hear more! For those who do not know, it is a dessert made of sweet sticky rice toped with coconut milk served with mangos on the side. If you have not tried it give it a shot and you will why I rave about it, and well will go to a restaurant just because they have it! It met my expectations, and I can not to go back! True Thai has a great selection of seafood, which is what I look forward to.
